Flat Bird

Sharon Johnson's challenge today was to make a flat card--not totally, one-layer flat, but something that would only require one stamp.  I tend to make my cards like that anyway--frugal, I guess!  I also wanted to participate in Denise's bird challenge, so I played around & came up with this kraft & white Christmas card:

Bird challenge 10-25-08 2

There is no glitter or bling on this card, it's kind of homey, simple & warm, although there is embossing!  I do feel like it is missing an element or something--feel free to critique and give me some feedback.  Thanks for looking!!

  • Stamps:  Best Wishes & More, Perfect Presentation, Snowflake Spot (both retired SU)
  • Paper:  Kraft, WW, Kraft Patterns (Hostess Pack)
  • Ink:  Craft White
  • Acc:  White EP, Grosgrain, Linen Thread, Nesties, Needle

  15. LeAnne, this is beautiful just as it is!! I love the simplicity and the stamps you chose. To add a little bling, you could use Dazzling Diamonds on the snowflake?! I think it's great just how it is, though!

  20. I notice that your readers are too kind to jump in with a suggestion, but I'm not. lol

It appears that you may be lacking a focal point due to the fact that there IS so much of the card color showing and the upper right seems a bit off balanced.

Perhaps if you first stamped the snowflake as a darker tan/brown shadow, then stamped above it with the white, then embossed it, it might throw the balance a little more towards the top.

There could also, possibly, be a bit taken off the top of the card because the bottom looks about 1/4" under the tag, yet the area above the dove looks to be more 1/2".

sorry honey. you ask. I answer and walk all over you!!!!!
