PP553 Sunny Thoughts

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Claire is our amazing hostess this week at the Paper Players and she has a fun color challenge for us all:

I thought the big bold colors in this palette called for some big bold elements!  The sketch at Fusion was fun:

And so here we go:

Stitchery is one of the first sets I ordered from the new catalog and I was having a bit of a problem figuring out how to use it!  But I loved how it looked here decorating these panels!  I stamped some of the stitches on the Old Olive and Real Red panels with matching ink, then stamped a sentiment from Sunny Sentiments.  The bee is from a retired set called Every Little Bit, and he was stamped and colored, then fussy-cut and popped up.  I even did a little "bee trail" with a Black marker!

The final embellishment was the addition of some epoxy dots on the sun for fun!

I hope you'll play along with our color challenge this week!  The design team has come up with some awesome samples, so be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to take a peek, then share yours with us too!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy got a creative bug last week and asked Grampy to help her make something for her mom.  Grampy got his tools and some sort of MDF stuff and they made a little plaque:

Then we sketched out the design and she started the painting (excuse my messy table!!!):

Now you'll have to come back tomorrow for the finished product and Mommy's reaction!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

  1. That is, indeed, a very colorful bold card! I'm glad you were able to use the Stitchery Set. This sketch was perfect for your design. I am sure Dana is going to love her gift. I wonder how many young men these days are learning to use tools like John does.

  3. That little bee, and his trail, is just adorable - LOve the font on this perfect sentiment, and that stitching stamp is going to be a top-seller, I predict! Good to know SU sews as straight as I do! ha!
So fun to see a little girl with her gramps getting their craft on! I'm betting John had just as much fun as Miss C!

  5. Oh I love this bright happy card LeAnne! The stitching makes a lovely detail on those panels and I love that bold sunshine, but I think that cute bee has stolen the show! What a joy to see Cassidy making something so lovely for her mom. I would definitely be misty-eyed if one of my kids presented that to me!! Vicky x

  10. This is such a great layout to highlight some larger sentiments! And thanks for the inspiration for the Stitchery set as mine is being a bit neglected for lack of inspiration! The buzzy bee is a perfect accent to go along with the stitching too! Hope you're having a fantastic week!

  12. LeAnne, firstly, how fabulous is the "best Mom ever!" :-)
Secondly, I love that you went with bold color blocking for your card. The stitchery die and fabulous sun add a touch of whimsy and additional texture and I am obsessed with that bold sentiment. Another fabulous, bold and graphic card.

  13. You see a set and then don't know how to use it - don't you hate it when that happens? I think you've unlocked the creative block on this one though LeAnne - love the addition of the stitching to those bold block of colour and I think your take on the sketch is fabulous - you have such a great collection of bee stamps! As for Cassidy's box - so creative and thoughtful, no wonder it made Dana cry!
