Bowphobia

DSCF7414

I don’t really have a bow phobia…..I just don’t add big bows to my cards because it adds so much bulk. But after seeing so many really striking cards with big bows, and after chatting with a blogging friend whose cards always have some awesome ribbon & bows, I thought I would try again. The results are a bit laughable, but let me explain. I got some really fun ribbon on a floral arrangement when my MIL died, and I saved it because it really reminded me of an old SU stamp…and it’s good to recycle, right?! So when I saw this color challenge today at Stamping 411:

and this sketch from Wednesday’s sketch challenge at SCS:

SC268_SCSketches_by_SCSketchesI decided to go for it. I realize my green panel is not exactly Green Galore---oops!! Anyway, here is the card, sans the ribbon (so you can get the real effect):

So a little off balance, huh? I obviously need some more practice on adding big fat bows!! But you can see where I got the inspiration—it is some fun ribbon! I added some glitter to the flowers as there is glitter on the ribbon too. And here is the inside:

The flowers are from a retired SU set called Delightful Doodles---remember that? The sentiments are from a Simon Says Stamp set that doesn’t have a name on it! So let me know what YOU think….honestly. I can take it!

It is a gorgeous day here in PA, just right for hanging clothes on the line and I am already on my third load! Before I go out to enjoy the sunshine, I wanted to share another Easter card I got from Linda L:

Isn’t it gorgeous---it has sparkles on the centers! And the inside:

Just lovely! Thanks, Linda! Enjoy your day, everyone!

  1. Hi-unless I am giving the card by hand to someone, I don't do big bows as I think they would probably wind up crushed in the mail. Your card is cute and pretty and so is the big bow which I think would also look good down at the bottom attached to the orange ribbon-just a thought-I am no card judge! (grin)

  2. I love it! It is just perfect with that stamp set too. Might not mail well, but it would look so wonderful tucked into a flower pot or a basket of goodies! Happy Easter! ~chris

  4. LOL LeAnne! :) Your title Bowphobia made me laugh! It took me quite a while to try the BIG bow look myself. Your bow is PERFECT and goes SO well with this SU set! Love both versions of your bright and springy card!
