Happy Sunday, all! Time for a new challenge from The Players, and Stef is our fabulous hostess this week. I love sketches--so many possibilities! Check hers out:
Lovely! This is the time of the year I am frantically trying to use up some of the beautiful papers that will be retiring soon! (Anyone else do that?) I have neglected the pretty Nests of Winter as well as the Country Woods, so I decided to combine them on my card today:
I first covered my card front with some printed paper from Nests of Winter (they look like little birdie feet, don't they?) and added a strip of the Country Wood paper, along with a thin little diecut strip in a darker shade. I liked the little pops of color from those wood panels! I diecut these little birds with the Spotlight on Nature dies and backed it with a scalloped mat. A wee little stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs fit on the open space perfectly.
My final addition was a little bow of some Linen thread to complement the natural feel of the card! I have a friend in TOPS who recently broke her collarbone, so this will be going to her!
I hope you'll find some inspiration with Stef's sketch and play along with us at the Players! We can't wait to see what you create! Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31

ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I saw 'birdie feet' immediately! What a gorgeous neutral paper that fits with those wood pieces perfectly. Such a sweet card for your friend!

This is adorable! I love the papers you combined to make this. I think I am always frantically trying to use up beautiful papers...so I can purchase more! lol! I hope your friend is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the mixed wood panel border LeAnne - the perfect compliment to your neutrals and sweet birds and that background definitely looks like bird footprints! I have given up trying to use up my DSP as it retires - I have so much of it! Still, the more you use up, the more excuse you have to buy new, right?!
ReplyDeleteThis card is just lovely, LeAnne! I think those papers are great combined together and that bird image is so sweet for a get-well card. I am a terrible paper hoarder, so my collection is pretty much bursting at the seams--I'm working on just using the paper but sometimes I have to get a second pack before I can make myself cut into the really gorgeous ones!
ReplyDeleteThose wee birds are the sweetest and it's great that you had just the right sized sentiment. The two dsp designs mesh beautifully together. The strip of the colored wood panels is just the right amount so as not to overtake the rest of the card. Love both of those dsps. Such a beautiful card, LeAnne, I'm sure your friend will be so appreciative!
ReplyDeleteYou've used my favourite Country Woods DSP - I can't decide whether I need to get a whole new packet of it before it goes or not! The little circlet of birds is a lovely focal point and the sentiment is just the right size for it... and I'm always a fan of a generous linen thread bow. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, LeAnne! Nests of Winter is one of my favorite papers. The strip of Country Wood paper adds a lovely pop of color in contrast to the neutral tan. I love how you layered the Spotlight on Nature circle atop the scalloped circle. The linen thread bow is the perfect rustic embellishment. I LOVE this card. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect card to make anyone feel better. I know you love birds and this card made me smile! I love the colorful wood panel and the little birdies on this scalloped circle. SMILE! Have a great weekend, My Friend!
ReplyDeleteLeAnne, I just love that fabulous image and what a perfect one for a feel better card. I love the background DSP you used as well as the one for the vertical stripe. Fabulous card
