PP655 Boo To You

Hi there, friends! I am the hostess today at the Paper Players and I have a nice, easy basic sketch for you to try! It's so basic, I made two cards! Actually I made three, but I'll only share two today!  So here's the sketch:

I just got some really fun Halloween papers from Echo Park called Spooky, and they have scrapbook elements as well as printed papers, so this card was REALLY easy, and other than the inside sentiment, has no stamping!  Check it out:

I diecut my little ghost from a Stylish Shapes die, then mounted it on top of a starry panel, diecut with Scalloped Contour dies.  It all went on a seasonal orange and black plaid piece!  Instead of a bow, I decided to go with some narrow ribbon and a little black glimmer star; it's less bulky and I like how it mimics the stars in the paper!

I stamped a sentiment from Pick of the Patch in Cajun Craze on the inside, and it was done!

For my second card, I switched gears and sped right up to Christmas!  I had been looking through some supplies from last year and came across this cute Santa from the Santa Express Memories & More pack, so I cut him out, added a stenciled background with some festive twine, then mounted him on another Echo Park paper called Santa Claus Lane:

I found a little "ho ho ho" stamp in my stash, and added that as well as a little gold glimmer star on his hat!

I hope you'll have some fun with my sketch this week!  Check out what the others did over at the Paper Players blog, and share yours with us too!  I'll be going on a little bloggy break this week, but I'll be checking out what you create!  Thanks for popping in today; enjoy it and be blessed!

This little critter would have been appropriate for last week's challenge; I found it on my driveway:

It's called a common whitetail....don't those wings look like they could be used at the Indy 500? Wowza!  And then John found this last week behind our shed, while he was mowing:

Yikes!  We need to stay clear of that until winter! But isn't nature fun?!

Naturals Joy & Peace

Happy Friday, peeps! Happy weekend!  The Inspired By inspiration photo was really pretty this week and I thought I would pair it with the Just Add Ink sketch!  Here they are:

I put together lots of elements to make a Christmas card!  Take a peek:

My Thick Basic White card base was embossed with the Tin Type embossing folder to begin!  For my Very Vanilla panel, I diecut some strips with The Greetery's Shiplap Builder dies and layered them on a Crumb Cake panel.  The deer and heart were diecut from One Horse Open Sleigh DSP and the sentiment is from Night Divine, embossed in white.  I added some Soft Seafoam diecut greenery behind the deer:

as well as the heart.  I diecut a smaller heart from the same DSP and added two little holes to make a button, then added a faceted gem and some sequins.

I love this inspiration photo and am pretty happy with the card too!

I almost forgot to share one more birthday card from "across the pond", from my sweet Paper Players teammate, Joanne!

Getting happy mail makes turning a year older a lot easier to bear!  Thanks, Joanne!  And thanks for popping in today..enjoy it and be blessed!

HSS421 Warm Hello

Happy Thursday, peeps! I am gently steering towards fall stamping...the colors and hues of the new colors as well goodies in the mini catalog are calling my name, LOL!  The Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge this week was a good one to get me started:

I pulled out the new set Fruitful Blessings, some watercolor paper and went to work:

I stamped the pears in Stazon Black and watercolored them with Pecan Pie and Copper Clay inks, then diecut them out with the matching dies.  I mounted them on a Copper Clay banner that was embossed with the Twisted Rope embossing folder. The Misty Moonlight panel was stamped with a foliage image from the set, and the Pecan Pie card was stamped with some foliage from the Inked & Tiled set.  I think the images complement each other nicely!

I added some Rustic Twine and Textured Ribbon as an embellishment, and added a sentiment from Circle Sayings to finish the front. On the inside, I added a couple more layers and another foliage image from Inked & Tiled:

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS600 Happy Hallo-scream

Hey there, stamping friends!  Today is a VERY special day!  Freshly Made Sketches has reached a milestone 600 posts!  And a few of us are chipping in to help them celebrate!  I have been a big fan of FMS for as long as they've been around, started by the talented Lesley Croghan!  So let's get right to it!  Here's the fabulous sketch they're using for the celebration today:

When I saw the circular element, my mind went to Cottage Wreaths, and I wanted to get a start on my Halloween cards, so here we go:

I stamped the wreath in Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso and diecut it with a circle die.  I found some black and white gingham to create my bow, then added a little diecut spider to spooky it up a bit!  A fine-tip black marker created the cobweb from which it's hanging!

My sentiment is from a very old set called Fangtastic...isn't it a hoot?  I heat embossed it in white on Basic Black cardstock and diecut it with the Stylish Shapes dies.  The inside sentiment is from another oldie called Eat, Drink & Be Scary, and I punched it out with some equally-as-old punches!

My horizontal panel is some Pumpkin Pie DSP and I mounted everything on a panel embossed with an old Spiderweb embossing folder!  I love this layout and I loved giving some old as well as current goodies some use! I do hope you'll play along with the Freshly Made Sketches 600th sketch this week as they celebrate!  Woohoo!

LIM490 Pick of the Patch

Happy Tuesday, peeps! A real simple card today for the Less Is More challenge, which is ORANGE!

In my high school yearbook, under our senior pictures, we would list our likes and dislikes.  In the "likes" category, I listed orange since it was my favorite color! And I still love all the shades of it.  So I decided to do a lineup of pumpkins in various shades of orange and use the new Pick of the Patch set.  In hindsight I might do this a bit differently, but as usual when using a set for the first time, it's a bit of a trial and error! So here we go:

Before inking up my stamps in various shades of orange, I stamped them all on pieces of Masking Paper and cut them out.  Then I stamped, masked and layered them to create my pumpkin lineup.  I realize the ones on the end look a bit pink, but I used Grapefruit Grove and Calypso Coral inks so they are definitely in the orange family!  I also used Pumpkin Pie, Crisp Cantalope and Cajun Craze.  My leaves and tendrils were stamped in Crumb Cake and I had to add that cute little black crow and fun sentiment in Memento Black:

I did add a few little speckles and called it done!

I got an email several days ago from a blogging friend who said she was sending Cassidy a gift; she'd had it for a long time but finally mailed it off!  On Saturday, just before going to Cassidy's party, I got a box in the mail....it was pretty battered but still intact, and it was from Marina in ALGERIA!  And look at this adorable gift inside:

A cute little stuffed camel, complete with saddle and reins with little ball fringe!  SO cute!  I knew he would get lost in her bedroom, so I brought him home and put him in her bedroom here.  Doesn't he look comfy against my ORANGE pillow, LOL?!

His little eyes are closed, so I am sure he is resting comfortably!  Thanks, Marina!  And thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

All About Autumn DSP Is Beautiful

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a good weekend! Ours was busy but fun!  Today is Stamp Camp day, so housekeeping is in my cards, LOL!  But first, a couple of cards that I created over the weekend while playing with my new holiday mini catalog goodies.  The All About Autumn DSP is gorgeous!  Lots of beautiful photograpic papers as well as some pretty metallics and awesome masculine patterns.

First, I made a simple "hello" card using these amazing papers...who knew you could use pink and mauve for LEAVES?!!!  Really, my pictures don't do it justice.  Check it out:

Just a layer of DSP, cut with a Stitched Rectangle die, and a mat of Bubble Bath, also diecut, on top of a Moody Mauve card.  I did do a little heat embossing in gold on Early Espresso and diecut it with a Countryside Corners die, then added a pretty mauve and copper-foil DSP mat as well. It's hard to tell but I colored the gold pearls with a  Rococco Rose Blend to give them more of a mauve color too!

Since I still had a little piece of that DSP left, I used it to create another card (my favorite of the two!):

I used the sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday:

and I used another Moody Mauve metallic pattern for the vertical piece.  Both layers are matted with another gorgeous surprise that I missed in the regular catalog, Soft Shimmer specialty paper; this one is in Bubble Bath and is oh-so-pretty IRL!

I didn't want to hide that pretty leaf, so I created a Basic Black diecut circle and stamped a sentiment from Cottage Wreaths on some vellum for my sentiment.   The white card is embossed with the Leaf Fall embossing folder to continue the fall feel of my card.  You'll definitely be seeing more of these papers in the future!

So the new teenager's party was over the weekend!  I loved Dana's decorations (even her African violet got in on the purple decor!):

And the card got a so-so reception!  She really doesn't like people watching her open her gifts so she was a bit subdued!  I do have a few more pix I'll show in the coming week!  She starts school on the 28th!  Yikes!

Thanks for visiting today..enjoy it and be blessed!

PP654 CAS from Ann

Hello stampers!  It's Sunday and that means a new Paper Players challenge, with Ann as our hostess this week with a fun clean-and-simple challenge:

I love bees! I have lots of bee stuff!  So of course I decided to use a bee on my card, but I had some trouble narrowing it down, LOL!  I first decided to use the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches:

Then, I chose a subtle pattern of paper from Hackney & Co called Tell the Bees; and went from there:

I stamped a verse from Courage and Faith, and added a mat of gold foil along with some metallic pearls:

The retired Detail Bee die provided my pretty bee; it's gold foil also, and the inserts are actually champagne foil, although it's hard to see here:

Everything went on a Very Vanilla card base that was embossed with the retired Honeycomb embossing folder.  There are lots of occasions for which I could use this card, so I left the inside blank!

I hope you'll play along with our CAS Insect challenge---there are so many possibilities!  And check out the fun creations that the Design Team made as well....they're all over at the Paper Players blog!

Speaking of insects, my sister in SC sent me this photo of a 2 1/4" Giant Leopard Moth that was on her porch on Friday:

AND....I thought you might like to see the bees fighting each other on my hummingbird feeder!  If you look closely, one of the bees is pushing the other bee away with one of his legs....and the third bee is struggling to get his butt up far enough so he can get to the nectar!  I have had LOTS of hummingbirds this year but this is the first time I've seen bees like this on my feeders!  There's enough for everyone!

Thanks so much for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Patchwork Pieces Quilt

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Dana is having Cassidy's birthday party today, so this will be short & sweet! My friend Shawn saw a cool card using the Crafting With You set and a "quilt" made from paper! You can see it here, by Ramblin' Stamper!  SO pretty! I thought I had saved it but couldn't find it, so I went ahead and created my own version of something similar using the Patchwork Pieces dies and some Blueberry Bushel gingham DSP. So here we go:

I combined the DSP pieces with Basic White and after adhering them all to a scrap piece of paper, I ran the "quilt" through the Cane Weave embossing folder and matted it on a piece of Boho Blue cardstock. I stamped the sewing machine in Blueberry as well, and diecut a little scrap with the other die in the set to create my "fabric" to fit in the sewing machine.

I stamped the sentiment and added some spools and buttons in Blueberry and Crumb Cake.  The accessories in this set are so much fun!  I wish I had used the smaller sentiment like Pat did because I feel like my card is a bit bottom-heavy, with both the sewing machine AND the sentiment panel, but this was sort of a trial/prototype, so I am not going to sweat over it!

I have a couple more ideas for these dies and set, so be on the lookout! I have so many ideas with all the new things coming out in the catalog, I don't really think there are enough days in the month to get them all done!  But I'm going to give it a try!

While we're in a "blueberry" mood:

For Cassidy's birthday, she and her friend went to Sky Zone for "Glow Night"....looks like fun!

I don't know who that crazy guy is in the background!

Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS599 Peaceful Fox

Happy Friday, peeps! Yay, it's the end of the week!  I have been playing with the Online Exclusive One Horse Open Sleigh papers....there are some gorgeous ones in there....and this little fox seemed to be perfect for the FMS sketch this week, designed by the queen of CAS, Jen Mitchell!  Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

The picture really doesn't do this DSP justice!  I cut a strip from the fox-in-the-snow paper to make my vertical piece, rounding the edges with a rounder punch.  The other layers are also from One Horse Sleigh.

The "peace" is from the upcoming set called Night Divine (a GORGEOUS set!); the sentiment actually says "joy & peace", but after lining the stamp up on my Stamparatus, I used a Blender pen and some Pecan Pie ink to ink up just the word "peace".  I did that a couple of times and it worked perfectly!

Another sentiment from the same set was stamped on the inside of the Crumb Cake card:

The only embellishment was a little bow tied with Linen Thread!  I love the earthy feel to this card!

Out for some ice cream, celebrating Cassidy's b-day!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!
