Gift Box and Tag

Howdy, peeps!  Sneaking in this afternoon (before I start baking some cookies) with a little gift box and tag with a country feel:  

This little box is one of my favorites, but I can’t find it on SCS and I am pretty sure that’s where I got it!  I like to make these and fill them with candy and a gift card for my nieces and nephews for Christmas!   It was cut from a kraft Christmas paper slab I got recently; I used SU’s Holiday Collection Framelit to cut out the Christmas tree opening, then used white Stazon to stamp some snowflakes on a piece of acetate and backed the opening with it:

I added a glimmer paper star and a sentiment I had made for another card, but ended up not using!  Glad to get that off my desk!  I added a little “bow” from some of the crinkly paper stuff that I can’t remember the name of:

And since I had the Christmas tree diecut also laying on my desk, I made a tag, (which I don’t normally do because they get tossed in the trash), but the CASual Fridays challenge 80 this week is tags, so I went for it!

I took a little walk with Cassidy up to my SIL’s yesterday, as she had all four of her grandchildren there, ranging in age from from 2 weeks to 2 1/2 years!  What a fun day!  Cassidy was trying to play with one-year-old Jack, but every time she gave him a toy, he threw it on the floor…which he thought was great fun, but Cassidy didn’t understand the game!

She said, “HERE….TAKE IT!”  Can you see that look of frustration?!  LOL!

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I apologize for being late in posting these last few days…..the Christmas rush is on, and I just haven’t had time in the evenings to set up my posts!  I am sure you all understand!  I did see an adorable inspiration photo from Laurel at Inspired By, and I couldn’t pass it up:

This is straight from my era….a little 45 record cover (29 cents, no less) and that’s how I remember Santa looking when I was a kid!  I barely made a dent in my “vintage” Christmas stash with my card:

Not quite the same era, but I thought he was cute! And what is with all the shades of green going on here?  I certainly covered all the green spectrum, didn’t I??  LOL!  I also used the Deconstructed Sketch #79, which I flipped on its side to make use of my little Santa image:

I glittered him up pretty well, and added some ribbon, a little sticker embellishment and a diecut holly:

Today’s photos of Cassidy shows her feeding chicken (a pretend drumstick) to her farm friends…..although feeding a drumstick to a chicken seems a little macabre!!!

TSOT94 Thank You

I needed a quick thank-you card and when I saw the Try Stampin’ on Tuesday sketch this week, I knew it was a keeper for me---THREE panels, yippee! Here’s the sketch:

Of course, I didn’t double-check the sketch and messed up the sentiment placement, but I still love the layout and the card, so I am going forward!  This is actually a notecard, which measures 3 1/2” x 5”, so the 1 1/4” punch worked perfectly for my monochromatic images from Countryside:

I stamped them in Riding Hood Red, then embossed a Very Vanilla piece on which to mount them, and adhered the whole shebang to a Very Vanilla notecard.  I added some Real Red taffeta ribbon and a little thank you tag from Tiny Tags:

I love that these images are detailed enough to stand alone, without being colored, and that even though the whole image isn’t featured on each square, they still capture that country, farm-fresh feeling!  Thanks for visiting today!!!

City Crafter Challenge #137

If you’re looking for my ColourQ card, you can check it out here!  Today, I have a special post for you!  I was excited to learn a few weeks back that one of my cards was a winner at the City Crafter Challenge Blog and this is the week that I am honored to be the guest designer!  The challenge theme is to make a Christmas easel card!  I hadn’t made an easel card for a while, so that was a good challenge for me!  Here we go:

I used a Tim Holtz die for my reindeer, punching them from some musical DP, and sponged them for a vintage look.  I stamped some trees on some vintage DP (also TH) and mounted the deer on top.  I also added a little bell to each one’s neck!  The easel part of the card is held in place by a chipboard snowflake, covered with glitter, and a pretty little sentiment from Unity.  The red glimmer brad carries through the red color of the floss I used to hang the bells!

Happy, happy Tuesday, everyone!  ColourQ day!  Oooh, check out this pretty little apron:

Anybody could whip up a special batch of Christmas cookies while wearing this little number, right???  Love it!  I cheated a little and substituted Wild Wasabi and Pool Party (cuz I was just too lazy to pull out my old ink!!!) but I still think it’s a fun combo!  What do you think?

The images are all from Jolly BIngo Bits; the paper is from last year’s Domestic Goddess DP pack.  Each square, punched with the Postage Stamp punch, has been embossed, and each image is decorated with a pearl, which qualifies this for the 52 (Christmas) Card Pickup challenge for November, which is pearls!  I also stamped a narrow sentiment on a little flag of vellum, just for fun!

Merry Monday 43

Well, it’s Monday, peeps, and it’s the last Merry Monday sketch of the year!!  If you’ve been following along with us, you should have a nice little stash of Christmas cards for your holiday mailing!  We’re going to take a little break, but we’ll be back in January with some fresh new stuff for you!!  But for now, here is the sketch Lesley has created for us this week:

I have to admit, this sketch threw me a bit; I am used to things in odd numbers, not even!  But I unhoarded some cool MME brads I had, inked up a new single SU stamp and made a shabby bow for my vintage-feel card:

If you’re going to have one brad, why not have six, right?  LOL!  These are some cool brads, for sure:

On Saturday, my daughter took Cassidy to see Santa at the Junior Grange, but there was no way she was getting near him!  She was more fascinated with the smaller children and BABIES!!!  She loves babies!  Luckily, we knew this baby…she and her family go to our church!

Paper Players 123 and IB51

Happy Sunday everyone!  It’s time for the Paper Players again, and the talented Jaydee has an awesome sketch for us this week:

Love it!  I was perusing some challenge blogs last week and the Inspired By photo caught my eye:

I thought the image would be fun to interpret for a birthday card for my “little” brother, who is turning 50 in a week or so!!!  He’s an engineer and I thought the graphics in the papers and images I used would appeal to him:

I had a blast making this!  I used River Rock ink and cardstock, which I rarely use, so it was fun to pull it out and dust it off!  I used some Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 papers, stamping the numbers and the row of pencils (they’re a bit hard to see), in Stazon and River Rock inks,  and then using a hexagon diecut for the sentiment panel.  SU’s Itty Bitty Banners provided the sentiment and banner diecut, as well as the numbers from Timeless Type (retired). 

I know he will be fascinated by these hexagons; he often likes to examine my stamping and diecutting tools and punches…that engineering brain of his, I guess!

Friends of my daughter’s made Cassidy some Pilgrim hat cookies last week.  A striped fudge cookie was turned upside down, frosted in chocolate and had a chocolate-coated marshmallow stuck on top.  The girls then piped a little band of icing around the bottom of the marshmallow to make a hat band.  They were really cute, but Cassidy was not quite sure how to go about eating it.  She knew how to eat the cookie, but I am not sure she had ever eaten a marshmallow before!  By the time she was done, there was more chocolate on her than on the cookie!
