PP638 Tic Tac Toe

Happy Sunday, peeps, and happy last day of April!  Wow, that month flew by!  Anne Marie is our Paper Player hostess this week and since it's the fifth Sunday, we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge!  Here we go:

I went with the middle row across of ribbon, die cut and patterned paper!  I am still trying to give my retiring stamps one last go of it; can you tell which stamp I used?

Pretty obvious, huh?  That Knit Together background stamp works perfectly with this little crafty llama from Zany Zoo, don't you think?  I stamped the background in Blushing Bride on a piece of pink  Awash with Beauty DSP, which has a soft of watercolor look to it, which gave the knit pattern a very realistic look, in my opinion!  I stamped Miss Llama in Memento black and colored her in with the some Blends:

then mounted her on a tag and added some ribbons from the Zany Zoo bundle:

The horizontal panel is some Parakeet Party DSP, and I added some little white gel pen dots to her chair to coordinate!!  The sentiment is from Color & Contour.  I just love every little animal in this set, I can't wait to play with them some more!  And I think I'll keep the Knit background just for her!

I hope our TTT grid will give you some inspiration to play along with us this week!  Check out the other samples from our talened Design Team over at the Paper Players blog and see what tickles your fancy!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

52CCT23-16 Embossed Vellum Christmas Village

Happy Friday, everyone!  Yay the weekend is upon us!  I decided to try the technique challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, which is embossed vellum.

I have had mixed success with dry embossing vellum, and heat embossing usually warps my vellum too much for my liking!  But I decided to go for both, using an embossing folder called Snowy Village from Nellie's Choice and a Christmas set from SU called Hope and Peace.  I used the new Azure Afternoon ink and paper as well!  So here we go:

After embossing the vellum, I used some Craft White ink and a little water to paint in the roofs and foreground of the houses; it's rather tricky to get it to look even, LOL:

I added some Wink of Stella for sparkle, and gave it a Basic White frame, cut with the Stitched Reactangle dies. Then I decided to GO FOR the heat embossing!  And it really worked well this time:

The vellum really softens the color of the cardstock; here's the inside, using the other piece from the rectangle diecut and you can see what a bright color it is:

I do love my blue hues, so this will probably be getting a lot of use this summer!  Thanks for visiting today; enjoy it and be blessed!

TGIF417 Cupcake Birthday

Hi peeps!  A quick little post today, lots to do!  The TGIF challenge this week is to do partial diecutting---which sounds daunting, but once you get the hang of it, it's not hard!

In fact, I used the sample in the challenge photo for my own card!  Here we go:

To create the partial diecut, line up your circle die (this is from the Stylish Shapes) along the inside center of your card; you need to measure it so that the top of the cut doesn't exceed 5 1/2", so it will still fit inside the envelope.  Line up the very edge of your top cutting plate somewhere along the center of the die, (practice on scraps first), which will keep that portion uncut. Keep the rest of the plate along the portion you DO want to cut out, then run it through your cutting machine.  You will be left with a half circle cut out of the middle of your card.  Fold the card at the diecut area so the half-circle is above the rest of the card, and trim the card at the bottom, just in case you have a little overhang.  You'll see what I mean when you try it!  Anyway, I used some new Bubble Bath cardstock, the new Circle Sayings set and the soon-to-be retiring Gingham embossing folder.  I colored in the cupcake with Bubble Bath and Moody Mauve inks, then added some Wink of Stella:

The birthday sentiment went on the inside:

And then I used the One-Hole Bow method to attach some gingham to the front.  The One-Hole Bow keeps it from sliding off the front of the card.  You can see a tutorial HERE; my upline Pennie is the one who showed me this many, many years ago!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC522 Rain or Shine

Hello peeps!  Happy Tuesday!  I have a fun card today featuring some new stuff and some old stuff!  I love playing with old and new and mixing them up!  It uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

And it's also for the theme at the Global Design Project:

And here we go:

This lovely pale yellow is one of SU's new colors, Lemon Lolly!  Isn't it pretty with the Balmy Blue?  I pulled out some older DSPs, a sentiment from the retired Under My Umbrella, and a couple of dies that were appropriate for the theme!

I diecut the boots and umbrella from Lemon Lolly as well, added some shading and some black accents and stamped the sentiment in Memento black. I added some Lemon Lolly floral diecuts for fun!!  The inside sentiment is from the new Circle Sayings, stamped in Balmy Blue, Memento Black and Lemon Lolly, and punched out with the coordinating punch:

This will be going to a special friend for her birthday!  Thanks for popping in today!

Dana and some friends went to a pottery workshop and did some pottery painting!  She made some trivets:

I believe they now have to be fired; I'll let you know what the finish product looks like!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Countryside Corners

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend! I was playing around with my new Countryside Corners stamps and dies last week....I love the coordinating papers, all those BLUES make me happy!  So here we go:

I stamped the large image a couple of times in Craft White ink, once on Boho Blue and another on Night of Navy, then carefully cut them out with the dies.  I did a smaller panel on Basic White, stamping it with Balmy Blue and adding a sentiment from Quiet Meadow:

Everything was mounted on a piece of Countryside Inn, then on a Bojo Blue card base.  I did add a wee bit of Boho Blue ribbon on the side for an embellishment!  These colors make me happy!  Thanks for popping in today!

We had a bit of summer-like weather over the last few days (not today, though!).  Dana caught up on some reading on the hammock, along with Ginger:

I am sure if Eden tried to get up there, the whole hammock would have given way, LOL!  Meanwhile, in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, where my sister lives (near Charleston), this view was right off her porch:

I believe this is called a shelf cloud, I could be wrong though!  It only brought a little bit of wind and rain and blew right through, but how impressive is that?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

The disciples went and woke him, saying "Lord, save us! We're going to drown."  He replied, "You of of little faith, why are you so afraid?"  Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.  The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this?  Even the winds and the waves obey him!"  Matthew 8:25-27

PP637 Smile for You

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Ann is our Paper Players hostess with a fabulous sketch!  I just love this one, check it out:

So many possibilities, where to begin?  I felt like I was ignoring some of the goodies from the current mini catalog, so I pulled out a couple of wee little scraps from my package of Country Floral Lane and Country Gingham, along with the Country Bouquet set and went to work:

I stamped the hearts in Poppy Parade and Petal Pink, the leaves in Mint Macaron, then punched everything out with the matching punch.  The vertical panel is the new Countryside Corners, stamped in Balmy Blue and diecut with the matching die.  I added another panel beneath it, embossing it with the Countryside Blossoms EF

The sentiment is from the new Circle Sayings...I think I'll be getting a lot of use from this set!

I hope you'll pop over to the Paper Players blog to see the other fun creations that the DT made with this awesome sketch!  Let them inspire you to create something of your own, and share it with us there!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Three Cards, One Sketch for In(k)spire Me:

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I've been playing around with some different techniques lately, after seeing some lovely cards out in blogland!  I needed three thank you cards, so I decided to use the same sketch and stamp set for all three, making each one a little different. I used the sketch from In(k)spire Me, although I didn't use the color palette:

So let me show you the first one, which is my favorite:

All the cards use the flower from Quiet Meadow and the sentiment from Nature's Prints, and all are on Very Vanilla cardstock.  The flowers were stamped with Stazon ink and after I made sure the ink was dry, I used a circle stencil to sponge in some Boho Blue ink:

Then I tore a piece of cardstock and used the ragged edges as another type of stencil, and sponged in some ink between the edges for a faux torn strip.  To the left, I stamped the fern image in Crumb Cake and added a Linen Thread bow:

My second one uses the same stencil technique for the flowers, using Moody Mauve and Boho Blue ink.   I used the Best Borders die to cut the panel in sections, stamped some foliage underneath on the Moody Mauve card, and added a Linen Thread embellishment as well.

The third one was watercolored instead of stenciled, and I used Calypso Coral and Soft Seafoam inks along with a strip of Calypso Coral DSP and a bit of frayed Baker's Twine, all on a Soft Seafoam card.

I do enjoy watercoloring, so this one is probably my second-favorite!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI297 Zany Zoo Birthday

Happy Friday, stamping friends!  The sweet team at As You See It has asked me to fill in a few times over the next couple of months, and look at the first inspiration I get to play with:

What amazing, fun colors!  I just got the Zany Zoo set and thought how fun it would be to do some watercoloring on this cute little gater...or is it a croc?  Not sure!  Anyway, here we go:

I stamped her in Black Stazon ink and used the challenge colors to fill in the image.  I did get only a wee bit of So Saffron on her basket but it IS there, I assure you!  I added a panel of Parakeet Party glimmer paper, some polka-dot embossed Coastal Cabana cardstock, and then added a sentiment from the same set on a Radiating Stitches die cut.  I also added a little banner from the Countryside Corners Dies:

I tied on some ribbon from the same bundle, then stamped a partial sentiment from the Circle Sayings on the inside, adding some confetti for fun:

These are such fun colors, I can't wait to see what everyone does with them!  Be sure to check out how the other designers used them, and let them inspire you to use them too!  Share them with us at As You See It!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Moody Mauve Warm Hello

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I finally got some of my new goodies from the upcoming catalog, and thought I would share one of the projects I worked on yesterday, just a quick little card!  I used the sketch from FMS:

along with images from the new Circle Sayings, the Countryside Blossoms embossing folder and the new In Color Moody Mauve, plus the retiring Stitchery:

I embossed a Moody Mauve circle with the embossing folder, then stamped the florals and sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla and punched it out with the new 2 3/8" circle punch, adding a scallop behind it:

I stamped a couple of images from the Stitchery set to create my "ribbon" and made my own little button using the smallest heart die from Give it a Whirl, punching two wee little holes and threading through some Linen Thread.  Everything went on a panel of Very Vanilla that was embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.  I haven't used Very Vanilla nearly enough lately and I think it goes nicely with the mauve!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Just Wanted to Say Thanks

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It feels very much like Monday to me, as we went to the Delaware shore for a wee little mini-vacation over the weekend.  I should have brought my shorts, as it was very warm!  Anyway, we are back and I am trying to get back into my stamping groove!  The sketch from Atlantic Hearts seemed fun, especially paired with an interesting color challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

I pulled out Happiness Abounds to use it one more time before it retires, so here we go:

I mounted some strips of Pool Party and Mint Macaron DSPs on a scrap piece of paper and trimmed it down, then stamped, diecut and watercolored some flowers and leaves from the set.  I combined sentiments from Country Bouquet and Biggest Wish to finish it off:

I did add a couple of sequins from my yard sale stash to the centers of the flowers for some pizzazz!  Thanks for popping in today!

The town of Lewes, Delaware, is where we stayed; it's the same town where Dana and Wayne got married, and they are noted for their gorgeous flower beds!  The tulips were just about done in most of the beds, but I managed to snag a few photos nonetheless:

Wisteria along the canal, and some lovely lilacs:

Tulips everywhere:

And even a wreath I saw on a door--so pretty!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
